DESCRIPTION: EPW - Adolph Lange, Dresden, quality 1a (Herkner system), 53mm, heavy 18K yellow gold original "CWS" stamped HC for Charles William Schumann, Lange's New York importer, ET gold cuvette, SW-shift-locking-LS, signed WE-SSD, fully capped lever escapement, 20J, GJS, DES (Diamant-Deckstein), gilt mvt, s#8621. Gross weight of assembled watch 88.5 dwt (137.7 g). Case bears 1866 patent date as with other Schumann cases, and the watch is in exceptional overall condition.
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, mint mvt condition overall, nearly pristine save for a single plate scuff; dial almost perfect, faint hl below seconds; hands mint; case shows little wear, few MFS, no dents or dings, complete ET detail with little reduction; bow tight, thinning at top, crown shows light wear with brass highlights; good glass crystal. An impressive early example.
